INITIAL ASSESSMENT
The first step in this process is to locate and stop the water source. In the case of water coming in the home from outside this may mean waiting for the water table to drop. If the water is coming from within a structure it may mean calling the plumber to fix the broken line or faulty fixture.
Structural damage as well as content damaged is assessed at this time. |
WATER REMOVAL AND DRYING
The most effective way to speed up the drying process is to remove as much of the water with extraction. Under pad is often removed to speed up this drying process. Any furniture and contents may be moved or removed to minimize further damage. A sanitizer, disinfectant or an antimicrobial is applied to surfaces to inhibit, the growth of microorganisms.
Drying equipment in the form of high-speed blowers and/or dehumidifiers are installed and positioned to quickly dry down the entire structure. |
REPAIR & RESTORATION
Once the structure has been dried down successfully, assessments are made to determine what repairs are needed to return the structure back to pre-water damage condition. The repair can be challenging as “Disaster Restoration” is typically more involved and complicated than new construction.
